Drive to Chicago from Barrington

On average in regular traffic the commute to Chicago by car is 55 minutes. In rush times you might add 15 to 30 minutes depending on exactly where in Chicago you need to get to. Barrington is not a small land area so driving to Chicago from your part of Barrington may differ 15 minutes or so from the average. Most commuters will head south on Barrington Road to pick up I-90 or on Route 53 and so the same. You can also drive to Chicago on Route 12 and 14 but be prepared for a lot of traffic stops.

Ride Metra Trains to Chicago from Barrington

Many commuters choose to ride the Metra train into Chicago and then catch a bus, cab or walk to their destination. Barrington has a station in the middle of Barrington village with plenty of trains stopping through-out the day and more during the morning/evening rush. Residents in Lake Barrington often choose Fox Rive Grove station as it is less busy and parking is not so crazy.

Trains arrive at Ogilvie Transportation Center at Madison St. and Canal St. and the trip from Barrington takes about an hour to 65 minutes, from Fox River Grove the trip is about 5 more minutes.
