The Village of Inverness

Inverness is a thriving community of about 6800 people that was originally incorporated as a village in 1962. Arthur McIntosh was a land developer and in 1926 he acquired many parcels of land for develpment and named the area Inverness after his clan whose home was Inverness in Scotland. Inverness is almost all land with very little water and is about 6.5 square miles. Inverness is bordered by Dundee Rd to the North, Barrington Rd to the West, Roselle Rd to the East and Algonquin Rd to the south. It shares the zip codes of Barrington 60010 and Palatine of 60067 as Inverness does not have it's own post office. Children living in Inverness attend 3 different school districts, Barrington 220 and Palatine 15 and 211.
