South Barrington Illinois is a small village located in Cook County, Illinois. The village of South Barrington is known as a very wealthy suburb of Chicago, making it an ideal place for people that work in the city and like to play in the city, but like to come home to a suburban setting. The village of South Barrington has just 3,760 residents according to the 2000 census, so it is by no means a bustling metropolis, which is what most residents love about it.
It’s known that South Barrington is a great place to live. In 1976, Alexander Stillman donated land in South Barrington to the Audubon Society of Chicago. The Society created the Stillman Nature center, which is a prairie preserve. The village is also understandably proud of the fact that 45 private lakes and ponds contribute to the charm of the area. South Barrington now boasts The Arboretum a shopping complex with boutique stores, restaurants and more to come. For commuters South Barrington is within a minute of I 90 for driving to Chicago, or just 5 minutes away from the Metra Line. Children attend award winning Barrington schools. The South Barrington Tennis Club which in addition to Tennis has indoor and outdoor swimming pools and more. |
