Residents of Lake Barrington are working hard to maintain the almost rural atmosphere within the village.  An association of communities in the area called the Barrington Area Council of Governments works to maintain zoning regulations that differ from those in other parts of Lake County.  Lake Barrington joined this active association in 1988.
