Making Illinois and the USA My Home Born and raised in the UK, I came to the USA in 1996 with my husband and 2 young boys on a 2 year assignment. Towards the end of the assignment I took the boys back to the UK while my husband finished out the job. It tied in nicely with the end of the school year. Shortly after that the family was back my husband having secured a permanent job here. Since moving to Illinois in 1996 the family have also relocated to Florida, spent a year there and then came back. All during this time I was a stay at home Mom. My children were the number one priority until such time as they started to find their own way in life and only needed support and guidance. Choosing Real Estate as a Career In my earlier years I spent numerous years working for a UK lender processing and underwriting mortgage loans. It just seemed a natural thing to find something in the same field where I could interact with people. Many Mom's will appreciate it when I say as a stay at home Mom you tend to get cut off from the world. My kids were now grown and I wanted to break out of the 'Mom Clubs'. I am an introvert and sales is an unlikely match but I saw this more as a way of getting close to individual families and helping them in their individual real estate quests. My journey was swift. Licensed in early 2005, brokers license in 2007, I leaped into the shoes of owning my own brokerage in 2008 and have never looked back. Along the way I have taken a lot of real estate courses to ensure my knowledge was broad. You can view my designations below. For me it was about a journey looking for the type of client I liked working with best and it was not long before I found out - Buyers. It was clear for 2 reasons. - I like to use the internet in my business and source my new clients online which is where buyers start their home search today. I use today's technology in business, blogging, Facebook, Twitter, texting, business connections, web sites and more. Just Google my name and you'll see how active I am in real estate online.
- I am passionate that my buyers not only find the right property but also connecting them with the right people along the way. Our industry is full of part-time and mediocre agents which can result in sloppy transactions. I also witness poor service and lack of caring by some loan officers. All too often buyers don't realize what poor service they actually get and that happens much too often. In my book this is not acceptable.
How can you Decide if Corinne is the Agent for you? - Are you looking for skilled guidance and input for your home purchase in Barrington?
- Is it important that you choose a Realtor that is accessible and available every day?
- Would you prefer to work with an agent that both lives and works in Barrington and has knowledge of both real estate and the community?
- Do you want an agent that has patience, understanding and high morals?
What I am not is an agent that publishes how many homes I have sold and all my sales figures to try and get you to choose me. Clearly irrelevant. I want to connect with my buyer clients on a personal level, find common ground, thoughts and ideals. Together as we search for your home, write contracts and move to the closing table we will be building a relationship of trust and understanding and as a result your transaction will be less stressful. If agent and buyer dislike each other it can make for one very unhappy relationship and neither you nor I deserve that. Time off From Real Estate I am somewhat of a workaholic and at times my family wonders if I ever put it down. I love the winter and skiing used to be an active winter pastime but I hung my skis up after major back surgery-just not wanting to risk another serious problem. So for now winter is spent keeping up with real estate education but in the future I want to get myself a ski-doo. My family owns land in Colorado, and we want to build a small log cabin for family getaways. I loves pets and spend time running around after my 5 cats. They more or less live in harmony but I miss my Irish Setter Gambit. 'He was just such a crazy clown'. I am often found with my head in a book and a cup of good old English tea in hand. I enjoy spring and fall relaxing outside but come summer the air conditioning unit is my best friend. One thing you'll learn when you work with me, I can turn my hand to many things. My Dad taught me and my 3 brothers that if you can, do it yourself. So with my husband I have re-habbed a house, helped finish the basement on our current house, we do all our own yard work and I will do car repairs with the guys. |
